UF Online Bachelor (International)

How was your recent UF Online experience, especially in the Biology/Microbiology major?

Hey everyone!
I’m currently looking into the UF Online Microbiology and Cell Science major as a second bachelor’s. I’m based in Asia and I’m trying to see if this program is actually doable while working full-time, especially since I'm halfway across the world.

I have a few specific questions for current students or recent alumni:

How are the labs actually done? I’ve read that major-specific labs are "hybrid" or "accelerated." Does this mean I have to fly to Gainesville for a week-long bootcamp, or is there a way to do them locally/online?

Are the majority of the lessons real-time (synchronous)? Given the time zone difference, I’m really hoping most of the lectures are asynchronous. Does anyone have experience navigating the time zones for exams or group projects?

What’s the workload like? Is it realistic to take 2-3 classes a semester, or is the STEM rigor too intense for part-time?

Prerequisites/Critical Tracking:Where did you guys complete your Gen Chem, Orgo, and Physics before getting in? Can these be done online through a community college (like Santa Fe or others) while living abroad?

GPA/Admissions:My first undergrad GPA was on the lower side (around a 2.0). Did anyone else get in with a lower GPA by crushing their prereqs first?

Would love to hear any "real-talk" about the program before I commit. Go Gators! 🐊
