I have a flight in 2 days and although it's less than 48 hours away I still see a cost for premium class upgrades on the app and website. I was able to move up on my outbound flight so I'm a bit confused about why it's not working on my return.

I'm new to status so I'm wondering if sometimes premium seats open at less than 48 hours? If not, is there something I'm doing wrong?

Edit: At around T-40 the premium seats opened up. Thank you everyone for the advice and information.
