I believe all ZZZ characters should have a “casual” skin in addition to their default/faction one. The current debate about the game’s identity is honestly kinda valid, in my opinion.
One way to address it would be, when adding skins, to make sure each character has at least one outfit that fits ZZZ’s urban vibe. Some of the early characters nailed that. For the newer ones, Nangong’s alternate skin is perfect in my opinion. Sunna's default is also really solid.
That said, it doesn’t even have to be strictly urban. A great example of a non-urban skin done right is Ye Shunguang’s event cover outfit. The green qipao, combined with her hairstyle, feels perfect as a training outfit she’d wear while practicing with her Shifu. On the other hand, I really don’t like her casual dress—I find it boring and kinda unfitting.
What I don’t get is how the same ZZZ team that designs awesome thyrens like Ben, Pan, and Pulchra, or characters with cool-ass fits like Piper, Jane, and Harumasa, can feel so uninspired when it comes to some of their most relevant characters.
For future skins, I really hope they take more inspiration from story/event covers. They clearly have the budget, and it’s a great way to monetize the game without forcing people to pull for the latest broken character.
Some of my favorites are Yanagi’s, Trigger’s, Ellen’s, Fufu’s, and Hugo’s.
I just wish this opinion was more widely shared and could reach Hoyo somehow…
Edit : to clarify, I don't think "all" characters should have an additional skin. That would be unrealistic. Plus, some don't even need it. Hugo for instance, despite his cover skin being cool AF, I don't think he needs it to match ZZZ's early aesthetic.
