I’m an August 2026 bride, and I’m suddenly panicking this week about our earlier decision to not hire a videographer. Both our mothers shared that they “only watched their videos on the first anniversary, then never again”.. but they’re also both divorced now.
We do have an amazing photographer and a second shooter. A big part of it is that my MIL is covering essentially all costs, which is insanely generous and is allowing us to have the wedding of our dreams.. but she feels that a videographer isn’t necessary, so we don’t have one. I could try and find someone now and book them without her help, but that’s money we were hoping to spend on a honeymoon / saving for a house, etc.
Should we spend less on a honeymoon and find a videographer now? Is there a DIY option, like asking my brother to at least take an iPhone video of the ceremony? He’s an usher. Maybe have an iPhone on a tripod that he hits start on? Obviously that wouldn’t be the same as a videographer, but it would be better than nothing which is what we have now.. or maybe we really won’t miss it, and photos are enough?
Recently graduated brides, I would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you in advance!
