A while ago I used Xbox One controllers on my PC. I preferred them because they run on AA batteries, which helps avoid battery degradation issues from built-in rechargeable cells. It was also convenient to “recharge” instantly by simply swapping in a fresh set of charged batteries. The problem was that the RB and LB buttons started failing quite quickly—after about a year or less I often had to replace the controller because those buttons developed a noticeably unpleasant feel.
Then I remembered I still had an old Xbox 360 controller lying around. I decided to buy a PC adapter instead of purchasing more Xbox One controllers (I always bought the green version, so I am not sure if those were lower quality). To my surprise, after countless years and endless hours of use, it still worked like new.
That is when I decided to stick with Xbox 360 controllers and started buying them second-hand. Right now I own five of them, and they still feel like the best controllers ever made.
What do you think? Which controllers do you prefer and why?
