I recently aquired a Technics SL-D202. x I only get audio from 1 speaker at a time, but if I pull one of the phono plugs out it swaps to the other speaker.

The cartridge says 'Stanton 500' and the head shell says 'SoundLab' on it so I think the previous owner has changed some parts on it. I have tried it with two different Cambridge Audio Azur 551P-B (With the correct AC cable) which are in turn connected to my Denon.

So far I have tried:

- A different pre-amp

- Wiggling the cables around

- Checking for corrosion on the connections

- Removing and re-attaching the earth. Weirdly this doesn't change how it sounds.

- The line cables connecting it to my Denon work perfectly when I swap the Preamp to my Dac.

Before I take it apart to check the continuity though the cables, are there any easier steps I should check first? My two main suspects are earth cable, and the cartridge wiring.
