Hello

This might seem like an unusual post for this sub, but hear me out — because theres a real connection .

Ali Ahmed came up through our academy, spent four seasons with us, scored in an MLS Cup Final, and earned his move across the pong earlier this year. Vancouver made him the player you signed. That journey started with us.

Now the city that built him might lose its club entirely.

In Europe this would be unthinkable. But in North America, MLS still treats clubs like franchises — assets to be bought, sold and relocated for profit. It's not football. It's not fair. And we're scared of losing something that took 50 years to build.

So we're asking you directly — please share #SaveTheCaps to your Instagram story, or bring a sign to Carrow Road. European attention on this story changes the pressure on ownership.

Hallo

This might seem like an unusual post for this sub, but hear us out — because there's a real connection here.

Alphonso Davies came up through our academy as a teenager. You know the rest of the story. We watched him develop into the player he is. You watched him become one of the best player he is today. That journey started with us.

Then last year, Thomas Müller — after 17 years at Bayern — chose Vancouver as the next chapter. He didn't have to come here. He came because he believed in this city and this club. We welcomed him like family, and he's given everything on the pitch. He's embraced our community completely — showing up, connecting with fans, and making Vancouver feel like home. We understand exactly why you love him. As a person and as a player, he's one of a kind — and we feel lucky every day that he's ours now too.

Your legends are our legends. That's not something we take lightly.

Now our club is facing relocation to Las Vegas by our ownership group. In Europe, this would be unthinkable. A club with 50 years of history simply doesn't get picked up and moved because an owner sees a better market. But in North America, leagues like MLS still treat franchises like businesses — assets to be bought, sold, and relocated for profit. It's not football. It's not fair. And we're scared of losing something that took 50 years to build.

So we're asking you directly — please share #SaveTheCaps to your Instagram story, post about it, or drop a comment below to show solidarity... we need to get this trending. If you're heading to the Allianz Arena, bring a #SaveTheCaps sign — that's the global television coverage we need. And if enough noise gets made, maybe the club itself makes a post. Anything that gets this in front of more eyes genuinely matters. European attention on this story changes the pressure on ownership — and a banner in the Südkurve would be seen around the world.

I posted this in the Whitecaps reddit page, but thought it would be good to here as well for raised attention.

Most of you have seen the news,... and the news is grim.

But today, Ashkan Karbasfrooshan — founder of WatchMojo and a serious Canadian entrepreneur — posted publicly on again on X about the Whitecaps, tagging Prime Minister Carney, Premier Eby, and Mayor Ken Sim:

"Just so we're clear, I am offering to assist in keeping the u/WhitecapsFC in Vancouver. If you are serious, I am not hard to find. I need TAILWINDS, not HEADWINDS."

Watch his interview with Brodie Brazil to learn more about Ashkan and his desire to get back the Expos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4MO48VGUVI&t=626s

He has capital, and a network... and he is asking to be called

Email our leaders leaders directly:

I spent two days emailing everyone I could think of. I know we are just fans with not a lot of sway, but fan pressure matters, let's use it.

#SaveTheCaps

EDIT:
People keep saying he doesn't have the money to buy the club outright... that is fair, but also not what his tweet said. He said he's offering to help. Partial ownership, a consortium, his network, who knows.... One person doesn't need to write the whole cheque.

As Whitecaps CEO Axel Schuster said — this takes a lot of little steps. Right now, what investors need is a viable landscape — and that's exactly what public pressure on politicians creates.

Politicians don't move without public pressure. Let's be that pressure. #SaveTheCaps
