Leather Finisher after Dyeing
Ok, I'm about to do something not smart. I have a Compartment bag in Bone and the paint has chipped all over the bag and it is extremely discolored. No amount of cleaning will help.
Here's what I'm planning to do:
- Deglaze the whole bag
- Using either Fiebing's or Angelus, what do y'all think?
- Dye the bag using Fiebing's Pro Dye
- I'm assuming it should be applied with a dauber instead of dipping the purse in the dye?
- Seal the dye
Here's my main question, what do I use as a sealer/finisher? I want to keep that soft feel to the leather; here are some items I was looking at:
- Fiebing's Tan Kote
- Would the resin finish suffocate the leather?
- Fiebing's Resolene
- This is an acrylic finish, I think I might stay away from this one
- Fiebing's Leather Balm with Atom Wax
- This one might be my best bet, what do y'all think?
- Bee Natural Leathercare Leather Finish
- Fiebing's Carnauba Cream
I wish ANY of these brands would provide an even a basic list of ingredients.
I know I'm probably going to destroy this bag BUT it was a cheap buy and I'm feeling adventurous.
