I really want to attend Michigan, but as oos its 62k/yr after all aid (work study, unsub/sub loans, etc), and my parents' budget is essentially 200k, so I'd be going into 50k+ debt. I plan to study Applied Math + Stats or Econ (LSA). However, my state school, Stony Brook University, is 7k/yr and I just really don't like it, and I've already been spiraling into sadness these last few days to accept the reality that I'll have to go here. I could also transfer after a year or two, but I can't see myself being happy during that time, and I'd need a 3.8+ gpa to even be competitive and transfer out.
In addition, I'm not sure with what I intend to pursue if I'll need to go to graduate school or not, so that also impacts my Michigan decision. Not sure how likely it is I can get an immediate job out of Michigan.
I could also work like hell to apply for external scholarships, or try to graduate in 7 semesters, but even then that's a lot of pressure on me.
Thoughts?
