Help with Legion Pro 5 (Gen 10) initial config

Hey everyone,

I just bought a new Lenovo Legion Pro 5 Gen 10 and I’d like to know what the best settings/setup would be for:

  1. Protecting the OLED screen (burn-in prevention, brightness settings, etc.)
  2. Improving battery health and making the laptop automatically switch to battery-saving settings when unplugged (60Hz, iGPU only, lower power modes, etc.)

Any recommendations, must-do settings, or useful Lenovo/Vantage tweaks?

Thanks!

Stand advice for Legion Pro 5i 16"?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Lenovo Legion Pro 5i 16" with an RTX 5070, and I’m looking for a good laptop stand (or cooling stand) to help reduce temperatures during gaming and heavy use.

From what I’ve read, a good stand with proper airflow can make a noticeable difference. However, I do not want a very tall or aggressive ergonomic stand because I still plan to use the laptop’s built-in keyboard and trackpad instead of an external keyboard.

If you own a Legion laptop or a similar gaming laptop, what stands have worked well for you?
Did you notice meaningful temperature improvements?

Thanks!

MSI Vector 16 HX AI or Lenovo Legion Pro 5.

Budget: 1700€–1900€
Country: Spain
Use Case: Gaming / Engineering work / Mixed
Preferred Specs: RTX 5070 Ti if worth it, good thermals, low fan noise, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 2560x1600 display
Notes: Trying to decide between MSI Vector 16 HX AI and Lenovo Legion Pro 5. Main concern is RTX 5070 Ti + extra VRAM vs better thermals/noise/OLED experience on the Legion.

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to decide between two laptops that are almost identical on paper (except of the difference in VRAM), and I’d really appreciate some opinions from people who have experience with either MSI Vector or Lenovo Legion laptops.

Specs

Both laptops have:

  • Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 1 TB SSD
  • 16” 2560x1600 display

Main differences:

MSI Vector 16 HX AI

  • RTX 5070 Ti
  • IPS display
  • 1799€
  • No Windows included
  • 3 years factory warranty included

Lenovo Legion Pro 5

  • RTX 5070
  • OLED display
  • 1699€ with Windows included
  • 1904€ with Premium Care Plus (Premium Care Plus would also cover things like accidental damage, battery replacement, and potentially OLED burn-in issues)
  • 3 years factory warranty included (4 with the Care Plus)

My use case

Mostly gaming + some engineering/scientific work.

Games I usually play:

  • Minecraft (possibly with shaders)
  • Kerbal Space Program with mods
  • F1 25
  • LOL
  • Probably no AAA games besides of GTA VI

I’m also a physicist, so sometimes I run Fluent simulations or write/compile C/Python code. However, a lot of the heavier simulation work is usually done remotely on other machines, so this laptop wouldn’t be my primary workstation.

What I’ve heard so far

From what I understand:

  • Lenovo usually has better thermals and lower fan noise
  • Legion laptops also seem to have a better reputation for build quality and support/warranty experience
  • The MSI has the stronger GPU (5070 Ti), but the Lenovo has the OLED panel and probably the better overall “daily use” experience

My concern is whether the RTX 5070 Ti advantage is actually meaningful for the games I play, or if the quieter/cooler Legion with OLED is the smarter choice overall. Another thing I’m worried about is VRAM. I keep reading everywhere that 8 GB VRAM is already becoming limiting for modern games at 1440p/1600p, especially if you want the laptop to age well over the next few years.

For my use case (Minecraft with shaders, heavily modded Kerbal Space Program, F1 25, and occasional engineering/scientific workloads), would 8 GB VRAM actually be enough for gaming at 2560x1600, or is the extra VRAM on the 5070 Ti something I’d realistically notice long term?

Another factor is timing: I need to buy the laptop before September at the latest. What’s stressing me a bit is that lately prices only seem to go up because of GPU and RAM demand, so I’m worried that if I wait too long, I may not actually find a better deal than these.

Any experiences with fan noise, temperatures, OLED burn-in concerns, or long-term reliability would also be really helpful.

Thanks! What would you prioritize?
