Can ESB pole be moved?

Brother is currently house hunting and found a house he likes in his budget, however, it’s very small so eventually would need to build on an extension. However, there is an ESB pole in the way of where the extension would likely be built. Does anyone know if it’s possible to get it moved? I’m getting various answers online, some saying it cost them up to 15k to get it removed?!? But others saying it was free if they had planning permission and the pole was in the way?

I’d appreciate any advice or someone to point me/him in the right direction

Year on Vyvanse/Tyvense - questions

Timeline

- October 2024 diagnosed ADHD & titration begins
- November 2024 unsuccessful month on Equasym (insomnia, nausea) so moved to Tyvense/Vyvanse 20mg
- 20mg no effect but certainly helping with my unhealthy eating habits - slowly losing weight & beginning a new healthier relationship with food
- December 2024 up to 30mg
- Jan 2025 30mg little effect so up to 40mg
- 2025 year 40mg has been great, life changing. Helps me with the most mundane smallest tasks that I would’ve never been able to start or complete prior to meds. Also helping me massively with my weight & food noise. BMI went from obese to overweight

However, since late 2025, I’ve nearly found the effects/benefits of the 40mg have lessened. I find myself procrastinating about tasks rather than actually trying to start or complete them. I’m a bit more easily distracted than I was 6 months prior. My appetite has come back with a vengeance. Sleep has also been a bit iffy.

Due to my forgetful and inattentive AuDHD brain, I’ve often left it too late to get my prescription done in time so I’ve had a few days where I’ve had to go cold turkey, and my goodness, those days were horrendous. The fatigue is like no other. It full on feels as if I’ve been hit with the worst case of the flu or Covid. Despite struggling before meds, I was never this bad prior to meds, but whenever I go cold turkey or forget to take my meds, that entire day will be wasted. I truly cannot keep my eyes open, and when they are open, they’re usually looking at the direction of the kitchen looking for food.

I’m just wondering, can we build a tolerance to these meds overtime? I didn’t think after just over a year I’d have built a tolerance. I don’t necessarily feel the meds ever wearing off, but I just don’t feel they have the same effect that they used to.

I’m due a med review soon and I’m considering trialing a slightly higher dose. Has anyone done this? If so, what were the results? Or did you have to try a whole new drug altogether?

TIA

House extension exemption

I know it’s best to go through local county council for confirmation but when I did, they just gave me a pre written response that didn’t answer my query whatsoever.

Afaik, most extensions 40sqm or under can be exempt from planning permission. I’m just wondering, can this extension be built to the side of the house? Or does it have to be the rear?

If my brother has to go down the planning permission route, is it a long process? - 40sqm extension to side of house with two bedrooms and small toilet. County Carlow.

Thanks !

New planning exemptions

Asking purely out of curiosity, with these new planning permission exemptions allowing a house extension of 45sqm & modular homes also 45sqm - is it one or the other, or can you do both?

For example, you have a house extension in line with the planning permission exemptions, can you still put a 45sqm modular home (when the legislation comes into effect) in your garden, or will this not be allowed due to already having an exempt house extension? There would be sufficient enough garden space in this situation

Does anyone think there’ll ever be a time where disability allowance will not be means tested? I just think it being means tested is the most unfair thing ever. If someone on DA wants to move in with their partner or get married, they basically have to forfeit their independence. I just find it so hard to believe in this day and age it’s still a means tested payment. Has there been any discussion of it potentially not being based on one’s means or is this just going to be the reality for DA forever?
