I'm an absolutely massive fan of Michael Dease and John Allred (ranking #1 and #3 on my favorite trombonists of all time) but one key issue is that pretty much every recording of them soloing is technically out of reach of my current playing ability, ESPECIALLY John Allred despite him being my #1. I'd say I'm a decent jazz trombonist but I really wanna get better and play like some of these absolute geniuses of the trombone but it's hard to get ideas and feel/know how they play when I can't exactly play the lines that they play. Any ideas on how to get past this would be great! Thank you!
