Hello everyone,

I’m a non-EU student currently studying in 11th grade, and I’m planning to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Germany in the future. Since Germany generally requires 13 years of education for university admission, I am thinking about joining a Studienkolleg after completing 12th grade.

At the same time, I want to continue improving my core subjects — Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry — while also learning German seriously before moving there.

My current plan is to spend one year in Studienkolleg first. I feel that this year would help me understand whether I can realistically manage both part-time work and studies in Germany. If I find that I’m unable to balance them properly, my backup plan would be to return to my home country and treat that year as a drop/gap year, then continue engineering studies in my own country instead.

I wanted honest advice from people who have gone through a similar path:

- Does this plan sound logical and practical?

- How difficult is it to manage studies and a part-time job together in Germany as an international student?

- Would this be considered a good/safe decision, or is there a better direction I should consider?

I would really appreciate guidance from students already studying in Germany, especially non-EU students.

Thank you!
