Stop policing others diets
I’ve seen so much discourse about veganism since the whole billie controversy and many people are using what she said as an excuse to hate vegans/vegetarians. Most of the people hating refused to back up any of their claims with sources. There are many reasons why someone might be vegan and they don’t need to justify why they want to or don’t want to eat something. It is incredibly arrogant to police someone’s diet and then refuse to hear them out on why they may have chosen that diet. Billie and some other vegans should not try to criminalize everyone else for eating meat either. Trying to make it a moral argument is ridiculous. You can love animals and eat meat, it is acknowledging the circle of life. I mean we learn this in school, how eating meat isn’t inherently evil and how it is something that is normal and expected in the animal kingdom. Everyone has the right to choose if they want to eat meat or not, but no one has the right to villainize another for their choices regarding that topic.
It’s that simple, grow up.
EDIT: There are a lot of comments and I tried replying to most but im overwhelmed lols. I want to make it clear that this post isn’t about Billie, she is only relevant because her comments sparked discourse. My critics are solely on the people who took what she said (whether they agree or not) and started saying some crazy things about the opposing side.
Also since I feel this is lost among many of you, I am not against veganism! 😭
I wished that the discourse was more about the state of how animals are handled in the meat industry and how unethical it is than “Vegans vs Non Vegans”. That debate is never going to reach a conclusion because everyone has different morals and ethics! The real problem is the abuse these animals endure in those slaughterhouses conditions, there should be a more ethical way to handle meat. That is something that should ACTUALLY be talked about.
