I’m trying to find someone named Rishal we studied together in school (Chettinad Vidyashram ) years ago, and I believe he’s now in Chennai.

I have an upcoming phone screen for a Technical Program Manager II (L5) role at Amazon (GES Sustainability & Automation team), and I’d really appreciate any guidance from those who’ve gone through the process.

A bit about me: I’ve worked in product/program roles across operations, healthcare, and most recently AWS (focused on technical program management, system adoption, and cross-functional execution).

For the phone screen, I’m trying to understand:

• What’s the typical structure? (behavioral vs technical split)
• How deep do they go into system design / technical concepts for TPM roles?
• Are questions more focused on program execution, trade-offs, and stakeholder management?
• Any specific Leadership Principles that are heavily emphasized in the first round?
• What kind of examples worked well for you?

Also, any tips on what differentiates strong candidates in this round would really help.
