What do you think?

I have been seeking new companion stones for my vintage opal ring. I bought the ring when I was a teenager, and it is in the habit of popping the little stones out. It is very expensive to get a jeweler to find stones and replace the little ones. The little ones are 2 mm grey-green balls, and at one point I found some Malachite beads with holes drilled in them and replaced a missing stone with them. Now I found the ring stored away and I want to rehab it so I can wear it. Finding a 2 mm spherical gemstone is no easy task. I purchased some glass 2 mm undrilled balls that look exactly like Sapphire balls.

Just recently I found some 2 mm opal balls and I am wondering if it is worth acquiring them to put in my ring. They are listed as "natural" opals, and the seller doesn't speak English very well so my questions go unanswered.

What do you think? What kind of opals are the ones that are for sale? Would they last over time? Do you have any suggestions for replacing the little balls?

Has anyone seen rings like these? I bought them both in the 90s and I love them both dearly, today I got them out and put them on to wear and I got to wondering what kind of a style this was. They are both 14 karat gold. I did a reverse image search on both Google and eBay and looked on Etsy too. I did find somewhat similar peridot rings, but nothing similar to my amethyst ring. What would you even call this style?

I worked a long time to produce this image. I started with a photo of a daffodil. I copied it eight times and reduced and flipped the copied images and put them around the original. I used blend modes and possibly other tricks to alter the color combos (the image is old and I usually forget all the tricks I use making Photoshop images.) I used the smudge tool to smear the colors into each other, and I used the painting tool to apply colors. I worked at it until the lines between the nine different images were obliterated. It is a beautiful image! I had it printed on glass and hung it on my wall.

I have had this opal ring in storage in my jewelry box for a long time. I keep it wrapped in plastic, and I have found that storing it with a slightly damp cotton pad keeps it from fading to white. I have stored it this way for many years.

I took it out of storage a couple months ago and examined it closely in good light and it was fine. I took it out of my jewelry box a couple of days ago and it has extensive cracks. Does anyone know why the cracks occurred, and does the opal need to be replaced, fixed, or should I scrap it for the gold? Can it be repaired? The cracks are not that visible in a casual inspection. Honest opinions are valued.

I found these guys in an exposed dump when I was hiking through the bushes on Nantucket Island when I was a kid in the 1970s. The contents of the dump were all bottles like these in different shapes. I wanted to bring them all home but I was so far away from my car that I could only bring these. For some reason I treasure them and I have kept them for over 50 years. One of them has rudimentary threads on top and apparently the tops had been pried off the other two.

I got this ring a few days ago, it was shipped from England. It features the coveted "blue flash" moonstones and what appear to be natural rubies. In certain light, the moonstones appear to be the mysterious classic gray of most moonstones. It is set in 9 carat gold and is supposedly a 1990s reproduction of Edwardian or Victorian ring. It needs to be expanded a tiny amount to fit the finger I want to wear it on. I wish I could wear it around to admire it, but I love it anyway and I can't wait to get it altered.

My new vintage ring came in the mail day before yesterday and I love it! I have been wearing it around and the cheerful orange color makes me happy. It is a fancy cut, lab created orange sapphire sat in yellow gold. It was not the most expensive ring for sale, but the originality really hooked me. It is from the Art Deco era.
