My girlfriend and I are both 23 and need to find a place by June 30. Here's the situation:

- I work in Glendale, I have been for a year.

- She now works in Malibu, new job and our lease is up June 30.

- Budget: under $4,000/month, 2BR

- Need: cat friendly, gym, hot tub/pool is possible, move-in specials a huge plus

- Want somewhere fun and lively, we go out a lot, have tons people all over LA, love food/bars

Top areas we're considering:

1. Sawtelle - our #1 for vibe

2. Woodland Hills - best commute balance

3. Malibu - close for her

Anyone actually live in these areas? What's the real commute like, and are there any buildings you'd recommend? Especially curious about Sawtelle locals. Thanks!
