Pogonomyrmex badius flight conditions

Does it need to be sunny to trigger a nuptial flight?

It rained pretty good tonight but it’s not supposed to be sunny tomorrow morning. Is it still worth a trip in the morning to check out the nests to see if I can catch a queen?

Chestnut Carpenter ant

Inaturalist said this was a Camponotus castaneus. She never shed her wings but laid eggs. What do you guys think. Fertile or infertile?

Howdy! I’m a lender looking to teach a class to agents on a topic that they’d be most interested in. Here are the topics I’m thinking about. If you have other suggestions I’m open to anything. Thanks!

What brands should I look at for small formicarium that I can connect my test tubes to?

I have two different size test tubes 20x150mm and 16x150mm with queens in them that are just getting started in their brood.
