6th Gen Classic: Sequence for 7th Gen Firmware Flash & Storage Upgrade?

After modding my 6th Gen with a new battery, shell, and iFlash, I swore I wouldn't open it again—but the 128GB limit is finally getting to me. I’m planning to flash the 7th Gen firmware to bypass the storage cap and figured I’d install a Taptic engine while I’m back inside the case.

For those who have done the "7th Gen software on 6th Gen hardware" mod: Does the higher-capacity storage need to be physically installed before I run the flash, or can the software be updated while the current 128GB cards are still inside?

5th gen taptic placement...🤔

I just finished upgrading a 6th Gen with 128GB of storage and the parts shown below. Everything fits into the slim housing like a glove! The only thing I missed was a Taptic Engine, but since the 6th Gen is such a pain to open, I’m calling it "finished" as-is.

​My question: Can I use these same upgrade parts for a 5th Gen build and add a Taptic Engine this time? If so, which Taptic Engine is considered the best for that swap? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 😊
