I'm a happy lurker of this sub. I've been a lurker for years.

As much as I love seing people work here, I'd like to point out the single most common mistake that I see 99% of posters do; not editing your set of photos enough.

Let me elaborate; I see work here that is technically superb, ballsy, great colors, compositions, subjects, light, interesting nonetheless, but what's the most common mistake? People post sets of photos with many, many weak photos. Those sets would be superb if the author had the eye to remove the not-so-interesting photos.

I read once that "a mediocre book is written with a pen, a great one is written with an eraser".

Be absolutely ruthless with your work. Always ask the following questions about your set of photos:

Do these photos tell a story?

If so, what is it?

Do any of these photos not fit the story?

Are all the photos at the same level?

If not, remove the ones that don't fit.

Is there progress in the story that is being told with this set?

Do all the photos have similar energy? If so, ask yourself if that is a good thing. Maybe the 'story' needs some more quiet moments for the reader to breath.

Excuse my English, since it's not my first language.

Happy lurking!
