Hi everyone,

I’m having a strange issue with my Dreame X40 Ultra and I’m trying to figure out if this could be moisture/water damage or a stuck water pump/sensor.

I recorded a video showing the behavior:

  • If I press the power button once, nothing happens.
  • If I press and HOLD the power button, the robot makes a strange humming/suction noise.
  • The noise seems to come from the rear water port (the hole in the back where the station fills/drains water), because when I place my finger there I can actually feel suction pulling my finger slightly.
  • The WiFi lights do not turn on at all.
  • I already tried pressing the physical RESET pinhole button with a paperclip, but nothing happens.
  • In the app the robot just shows as “Disconnected”.

I honestly don’t know what caused this. One night I suddenly heard the strange humming sound coming from the robot while it was docked in the station. When I checked it, I noticed there was some water on top of/around the robot. It was not soaked or flooded, but it was definitely wet.

I immediately removed it from the charging station and dried it, but ever since then it has been stuck in this state.

Has anyone seen something like this before?
Could this be:

  • moisture inside the robot?
  • water damage to a sensor?
  • a stuck water pump?
  • firmware crash/protection mode?

I’m currently leaving it powered off to dry completely before trying again.

Any advice would be appreciated.
