M21, Recently started earning, but parents still control my life and it’s stressing me out
i’m m21, recently started earning and i live with my parents. i come from an asian family and culturally the environment is pretty strict or maybe that’s just how it feels, but parents always see their kids as children, especially in asian families where even after kids grow up they still live with their parents and are expected to be taken care of.
and i’m fucking frustrated because they want to make every decision for me. i can’t travel on my own, i can’t decide my life, it feels like i’m being controlled.
they constantly bring these topics up like buying a new house, marriage at a certain age, earning fast, and planning everything for the future. it stresses me out a lot. when i ask them not to bring it up because it affects my focus and mental state, they just say “just ignore it” or “we can talk whatever we want.”
i just started earning and i want to manage my own life and figure things out, but they keep talking like everywhere i go i should take them with me.
i want to move out but i also don’t want to hurt them. i don’t know, i feel stuck.
