Saros 20 Error 8 in a completely open area

Another Saros 20 adventure… I honestly don’t know if I got a defective unit or if the software is just this unfinished. I already had issues with skipped areas before, and yesterday the robot got stuck in an open kitchen and threw Error 8 three times.

What surprised me most was that after restarting it and recording the behavior, it started moving around randomly in an empty area and ended with Error 8 again.

This is a continuation of my previous post about the robot not cleaning between chairs.

I’ve now been in contact with support for the last 10 days. So far I’ve been asked to repeatedly send logs, restart the same features, and test disabling obstacle avoidance settings over and over again. Today there was even a firmware update and unfortunately, the behavior is still the same.

Today there was a firmware update, and the robot still behaves exactly like in my video. Unfortunately, it’s a complete disappointment in this regard.

I upgraded from an S8 expecting a clear improvement, but in this specific scenario it feels like a step backwards.

The main issue is simple: the robot still cannot properly clean between dining chairs. The gap is about 43 cm, while the robot is around 35 cm wide, so physically it should fit without problems. In reality, it often refuses to enter or only partially cleans the area due to its obstacle avoidance logic and “virtual bumper” behavior.

On top of that, today it even got stuck under the table after slightly moving a chair, something my previous robot never did in the same setup.

The store refuses to accept a return because the unit has been used, and support is still cycling through standard troubleshooting steps.

At this point, I honestly wouldn’t recommend this robot if you have a dining table with 6+ chairs or a tighter dining setup. It simply does not handle that scenario reliably.

Hey, I’ve got an issue and I’m honestly a bit frustrated.

I recently upgraded from a Roborock S8 to a Saros 20, and I’ve noticed that the Saros doesn’t clean under my table properly, especially between the chairs. The S8 had no problem navigating and cleaning those spots, but the new model just skips them or avoids the area.

The table is located in the dining area, which shows up as a skipped zone highlighted in yellow on the map. I also have the cleaning route set to “precise” for this room, so I expected better coverage.

It honestly feels like a joke that a newer model struggles with something the older one handled perfectly.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips or settings I should tweak to fix it?
