Hey everyone,
I have a 2020 Ford Mustang and I noticed a soft foam strip between the dashboard and windshield (near the VIN area). It has an adhesive on one side and looks like it helps fill the gap between the dash and windshield.
In my case, a small section of it has slipped inside and part of it looks torn or missing.
I had two questions:
Does this foam strip actually serve any important function (like sealing, safety, or structural purpose), or is it mainly for noise reduction / fit and finish?
Is this something that can be repaired properly? The area is quite tight and hard to reach by hand, so I’m wondering if shops have tools to remove and reinstall or replace just that section cleanly.
Any advice or experience with this would be really helpful.
