I have an old collection from about 6 years ago now (an apartment that claimed damage that just was not there) that I've been refusing to pay on the principle of it as a result.
I moved out of that apartment in 2020. For whatever reason my Experian report shows the collection as "opened February of 2024."
I tried to dispute it on those grounds and provided emails and communications dating way prior to that date, but it was upheld for some reason on my report.
Is this for some reason not an actual grounds for dispute?
And will they try to keep it on my report past the 7 years that I'm coming up on next year?
