Would it be better to accept or decline work studies?
Hello I just got accepted to received the Hagan scholarship and I plan to turn in all forms tomorrow. I have so many questions. So I was offered about 6k for my work study and I accepted it but I don’t think I signed a contract a few months ago. I need about 10k from Hagan so if I work the work study I would get about 4k from them and have to work that won’t help me with my personal costs. So it really just subtracts from my scholarship if I take it. But the Hagan Foundation states that if you reject any awards and a work study is considered an award, that you forfeit the scholarship. And in the form it states that it subtracts federal work study when calculating how much to send the school. Should I accept the work study award but not work (I probably won’t find a job anyways) and will I get reimbursed?? I can’t afford 3k getting taken away from me and I’m not sure what to do. I am also confused because Hagan sends the cost of total attendance to a school but you don’t get the refund, Hagan does, so if you have a small family expected contribution, will they not pay personal expenses that are included in the cost of attendance? I’m really confused and would really appreciate if anyone had any information on this.
