Finland Shaped Bass
I’ve been toying with the idea of building a Finland-shaped bass inspired by Juice Leskinen, the Finnish rock legend who played a Finland-shaped guitar in the 1980s. Juice’s guitar was a Tele-style build using Fender and Schecter parts, while my version would be based on a Precision Bass.
The plan is to CNC-route the body and use a pre-made P-bass neck. I’ve attached a rough sketch of the design — the neck pocket, bridge and pickup cavities follow standard Precision Bass positioning.
Since the overall shape is fairly unconventional, I’d really appreciate any feedback on things I may have overlooked, especially regarding component placement, balance, ergonomics, or structural integrity. What I’m currently most unsure about is the placement of the control knobs.
A few other versions of Juice’s original guitar have been made before, so the concept itself should be feasible, although I’ve never seen a bass version done before.
Thanks in advance!
