Doctors don’t believe me when I say I don’t just stuff my face all day
Okay so this might not be very well worded but please ask me in the comments for further information. So starting with family history my mom has hashimotos and hypothyroidism however she’s never been diagnosed or suspected of any type of diabetes but she is obese (240lb at 5’2).
Ever since I was little I’ve always had issues with eating and self image and was on several keto diets when I was around 7-13, because of that I rarely ever ate more than one meal a day. When I turned 12 I started to get really shaky, weak and dizzy when I wouldn’t eat for more than 5 hours and sometimes would wake up in the middle of the night feeling so faint I thought I was going to pass out. I cannot stress this enough though it was NOT after eating foods high in carbs or sugar. This has continued until now but it comes and goes with its frequency and intensity. I’ve always been overweight, being 160 at my smallest in early teens and 210lb at my heaviest. I also have “athletic induced asthma” which triggers with.. exercise and allergies.
My issue starts 3 months ago exactly, my weight was 174lb and I’m 5’2 17F. 3 months ago it was like I woke up and suddenly I had crazy purple and red stretch marks on my stomach and on my arms, I weighed myself and I was 210lb! I had weighed myself recently (approx 1 month prior) at 174lb and had not changed any of my eating habits. My usual eating habits consist of a small lunch (usually just quick protein like turkey slices and dairy like yogurt or cheese) and dinner like chicken beans and rice. I went to a doctor and did blood work and the doctor told me I have hashimotos however he didnt tell me anything about it and instead tried to sell me a keto diet from a company he works with and then tried prescribing me wegovy. When I asked him why my blood sugar gets low sometimes he said it’s because I eat so much carbs it gives me reactive hypoglycemia but that doesn’t seem correct at all because I HAVE tested my blood sugar 2-4 hours after carb and sugar heavy meals and it has never dropped and on the contrary when I have low blood sugar episodes taking honey makes it get better and it doesn’t crash after. I went to get a second opinion and my doctor prescribed me metformin and iron+Vitamin D and told me to come back in a month, now it’s been nearly 3 weeks and I’ve started tracking every single macro and calorie I eat and I’ve gone down 10lb sitting at 205lb but I woke up today to MORE STRETCH MARKS, on my left calf but not my right, on my lower back , more on my stomach and behind the knee. I just don’t understand what’s happening to me, additionally I also looked back on photos to realize I’m having hair thinning. I have never taken any medication to be causing this, I am on an inhaler but it’s Ventolin which doesn’t seem to cause any kind of Cushing syndrome. I often have high heart beat when I stand up but it’s never debilitating. If it matters I do have hyper extension in most of my joints+ my last 4 periods have been heavier, longer and delayed (no I’m not pregnant or sexually active.) Yesterday I ate a meal and felt my blood sugar get high and took a test to see 144, 3 hours after eating and it only went down after 1 hour and a half back to a normal 108. I’ve never seen a high score rather than a low one before and I’m so scared what’s happening to me. Please if anyone can even try to begin to explain why this is happening I need it.
Please ask any questions if you need and I do have a few pictures of my stretch marks if it’s requested.
