Have you played a version of spades where you can set the trump suit of your choice given you bid to take 5 trick based on first 5 cards you are dealt
And in case you cant take as much tricks as you bid your score gets reduced
The game is called Minus!! Its played majorly in Northern India
The detailed rules pf the games are as follows The Objective The goal of Minus is to be the first player to reach 31 points. It is a 4-player, individual trick-taking game where every player is on their own—no teams allowed.
Dealing & The Bidding War The dealer role is punitive: the **loser of the previous round must deal the cards. The Two-Stage Bid Unlike other games, bidding happens in two distinct phases to increase the stakes:
The First Call (5 Cards): Each player is dealt 5 cards. Looking only at these, you must place an initial "speculative" bid. This is where you fight for the right to choose the Trump suit.
The Second Call (13 Cards): The remaining 8 cards are dealt. Now, seeing your full hand, you must "confirm" your final bid. The highest bidder from the first stage chooses the Trump Suit. Your final bid is the number of tricks you must win to avoid a penalty.
The Gameplay: "Must-Win" Logic This is the core rule that defines the game's integrity. It prevents players from "throwing" the game or hiding their power. Follow Suit: You must play the suit that was led. The Power Rule: If you have a card that is higher than the current card on the table, you must play it.You cannot play a lower card to "duck" a trick if you have the power to win it. Yrump Usage: If you are out of the lead suit, you must play a Trump card if you have one. If another player has already played a Trump, you must play a higher Trump if you have it.
Scoring: The "Minus" Penalty The scoring is what makes the game volatile and exciting. Meeting the Bid: If you win the number of tricks you bid (or more), you get points added to your score. The Minus: If you fail to reach your bid, you don't just get zero; you get Minus points deducted from your total score.
The Finish Line: The first person to hit 31 points
