Realistically, is a charcuterie board business profitable? If so, how did you get it off the ground?

Hey everyone! I’m new to this sub and I’m so impressed by all of your boards! I noticed a handful of you do this as a business, whether that’s your primary source of income or a side gig, what is actually profitable to you?

I’ve been making board for family gatherings, holidays, and other events like baby showers. I love doing it, I genuinely enjoy it and feeding people is my love language anyways so this is a labor of love.

However, I’ve gotten dozens and dozens of comments about starting a charcuterie/board business. I’ve been asked by people attending events if I have a storefront or if I’d be willing to make a board for them in the future if they paid me. I always tell them I’d be open to it but most people don’t follow up on that.

Anyways, these are some of my boards.

Please share

  1. If you have a board business, how realistically profitable is it and how long did it take you to see a real ROI?

  2. Do you think my boards— with improvement— could be worth launching a small business?

  3. If you have a business, what legal stuff did you have to jump through? Insurance, food license, LLC application etc.

Thanks in advance!
