Diagnosed with genital herpes 11 years ago. Had a horrific initial outbreak and then a few lighter ones in the 5 years following but haven’t had any in the last 5-6 years. Now, 11 years after the first one I am having a horrific severe outbreak essentially the same as the my first one - around 30 blisters, feeling tired and sore throat. It’s been going on for 10 days and new blisters keep coming. I recently had a period of stress and disrupted sleep but absolutely nothing compared to periods of ill health I’ve had in the past 5 years (which did not bring on any outbreak). Recently slept with someone new about 5 days before my latest outbreak and used a condom. Any thoughts on why this might be happening or does anyone have a similar experience??
