It’s really not a massive difference like the oled mafia will lead you to believe. I’d say the colors are about 10-15% richer on the oled. Noticeable but not life changing. Obviously the true blacks on the oled are much better, I never noticed how much IPS glow I had until now. Ultimately not the leap I thought it was going to be but I’ll try it for a week or so before I decide if I want to return it or not

The model I decided to go for is the XG27ACDMS, upgrading from the PG279Q IPS monitor from almost a decade ago. Honestly I love my IPS, it still holds up quite well and I think games look great, but I’ve fallen for the oled hype and I really want to see for myself if this monitor tech is the future.

What can I expect out of the box? Will the color and profiles need to be calibrated? This IPS definitely took a lot of crazy tweaking to look as good as it does now. Do I need to run any of the pixel cleaning programs, should I expect gray bands and text fringing as part of the oled experience? I play a lot of old school RuneScape and there’s pretty small and sharp text in that game, wondering if I’ll have issues reading it. There’s just so many mixed opinions on OLED I’d like to know what’s normal and what isn’t when I turn it on so I don’t immediately judge it based on preconceived notions and write it off as “not for me.” Thanks in advance
