Im currently a psych undergrad student finishing yr2, and realised i REALLY want to go into OT, but obvs there are v few MSc courses around. Im worried as its 2 yrs and ik friends doing undergrad placements (for teaching and social work) who arent allowed to work a job during thier course. While i understand placements are important and v taxing i wont be able to support myself through a masters w/out a job, as it is im working 2 to get through my undergrad.

Does anyone have any advice/knowledge if i can work or if its just not reccomeneded?

Also, are there any other pathways to getting qualifed as an OT w/out redoing my undergrad as i wont get funding for another. Mabye a MSc apprentiship if any exist??

UK only,

Ty

A few months ago my bf lost function in his right leg and is now in a chair- neither of us live in accessible housing but as you may know the world is often inaccessible. We refuse to let it stop us getting in places or doing stuff that might require extra work for us, but he obviously can't jump up for a piggyback when needed,

does anyone have any tips on how this can be done safley/easier?

Edit: As much as i appreciate suggestions for other mobility aids its not possible for him as he has no control over his leg, we have tried but he gets injured regardless of our method.

Also im only carrying him when necessary for us to access places that he cannot get to without dismantleing his chair. E.g. we can't always get his chair in between cars to access the car park for our home.
