I’ve lived in Edgewater a few years and have really enjoyed it. I like the feel of the neighborhood, the proximity to the lake and transport and how GREEN it is!

I may end up moving a little closer to the city and want to know if anyone has recs on what neighborhoods may have a similar feel to edgewater.

My six year old angel, Appa, was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma a couple weeks ago.

I’m crushed. I got her when she was a kitten from a barn in Colorado. She likely would’ve died then, being the tiniest, sickliest of the bunch. I told the owner of her mother I’d like to take her home and she made sure she was well taken care of, ensuring she’d survive the two weeks between when we first met and when I picked her up.

6 years later, she has moved to Florida, back to Colorado and all the way to Illinois with me. She’s been my rock, one of my best friends and the sweetest cuddle bug to ever step foot in my life. She is full of purrs and is silly and clumsy and a joy to be around.

The doctor isn’t sure how much longer she has. We have her on a chemo treatment plan, and the anticipatory grief is absolutely gutting me. I look into her pretty blue eyes and nearly break down every time. Every pet, every snuggle I can’t help imagine the moment this will no longer be a part of my world.

It feels like I’ll never be able to get over her.
