I’m thinking of making a career shift into becoming a hairstylist that focuses on natural hair care and styling and looking for any tips, advice, and helpful perspectives about that journey. Also how would one begin to embark on that shift? Is going to cosmetology school worth it if I want to focus on natural hair? I live in California btw.

I used to have a side hustle in college of retwisting folks locs and recently I have had an uptick of people asking me to do their hair. This is influenced by people seeing the styles and design I do in my own natural hair and asking for me to replicate it for them.

I’m into health and wellness and have also been contemplating making a career switch into massage therapy. I’m done with the corporate world hustle and want to branch out into a more autonomous, service-based journey. The flexibility of scheduling is also huge appeal.

Looking and open to any thoughts or stories you all have to share!
