Recently placed a new EV order, salary sacrifice through work and added a charger to the order. The lease company use Hive/British Gas for the chargers so I followed their process to order their Pro Mini 3 charger (the only option) I ordered an untethered version as my driveway is in a slightly awkward place so a 10m cable is needed - which I was happy to source elsewhere for less money than they were going to charge on their website as an add on.
Did all the survey and photos etc and had a call from their engineer today who is now refusing to continue with the installation as he says the maximum cable length is 5m, even on an untethered charger - despite their own website offering the purchase of a 10m cable. Tried to challenge them on their position as all available information says 10m is the max cable for that charger and their own ordering process allowed it - but they weren’t having it. I’m now stuck in between Hive and the lease company but I have a feeling they won’t move on their position.
Anyone heard of this regulation? There’s no information at all that I can find to suggest their untethered unit is limited to 5m
