Seeking Advice
Context:
- My newlywed neighbors just moved in within a year. Prior owner was the original owner when the house was built.
- My backyard is the low point among 5 adjoining yards.
- I get a LOT of rainwater from all yards.
- A year and a half ago we had a french drain installed underground to route excess water to the front yard into the storm drain.
- My original owner neighbor had a sump pump waste water pipe expelling water into the side of his yard which naturally all flows into mine. This makes the side yard (about 6’ wide area) super swampy and forces my lawn service to bring in extra plywood to drive over in order to not create giant ruts in the yard.
I am seeking genuine advice on how I might approach my neighbor about extending his waste water line further back in his yard, have it be underground, and exit through one of those small fountain like contraptions.
I am more than happy to help provide labor in digging a small trench for a roughly 2” pipe, several inches deep, about 10 feet long.
My goal is to help resolve the issue with so much water being routed into my yard from neighbors, while not making enemies of the new young couple next to me.
Thank you for your real suggestions.
