So I’ve been in my current job for about 4 years. No growth or sign of potential growth. I’ve asked my boss throughout my time at opportunities and have been shut down due to how small our team is and it doesn’t help that the industry I’m in is dying.

The market is obviously not great right now but I am still actively looking to change jobs (within my company for now because I have a long term incentive that hasn’t finished its payout yet). My dilemma is that my boss is like micromanager final boss. I have to get her at the start of the day and essentially wait until she’s ready to leave to go. My cube is right by her desk so it’s near impossible for me to disappear without having to tell her where I am going and half the days I spend directly in her office because that’s just how she prefers to work. (Just to note, no one else on my team has to do this with their leader… just me). I’m not her admin but half the time she definitely treats me like one so I’m basically doing 2 jobs in 1.

Any thoughts on how to go about interviewing should one come up? Should I just be forward and let her know I’m actively looking elsewhere? Any advice helps.
