Edited/update: I have received so much outreach, thank you all so much! I am going through all the messages in this thread and in my DMs and responding as soon as i can.

Hi y’all- I am posting this on behalf of my mom who is not super tech savvy. She read and approved the post.
I grew up in CHS, and my family is still there.

This morning around 8 AM, my mom got rear-ended in a hit-and-run on Johnny Dodds Blvd, right in front of Aldi and Uptown Cheapskates. She’s okay, she’s got some cuts and bruises and pretty shaken up. But the guy took off and we’re hoping someone out there saw something.

She was heading south toward the Ravenel Bridge and was completely stopped with her left blinker on, waiting to turn left off Johnny Dodds into the Aldi shopping center entrance. There was an oncoming car so she was waiting for it to pass. She heard burning rubber, looked in her rearview, and got slammed into hard enough that her car was thrown across the road.
Here’s the thing — she’d actually noticed this driver a few cars back at the previous intersection because he was leaning on his horn, just being super aggressive. He had to have floored it from a dead stop, because he went from way behind her to hitting her in about a quarter mile. After he hit her, he drove off the road through the bike path, turned onto Lakeview from Johnnie Dodds, and took off going what she said had to be 50+ MPH into the neighborhoods nearby.

She was only a few feet from the entrance when he hit her, so she was able to limp the car into the shopping center parking lot — but beyond that it’s not safe to drive.
What we know about the vehicle:
• Light silver SUV or pickup truck
• South Carolina plate starting with “P” (she couldn’t catch the rest, driver was just way too fast)
• Heading south on Johnny Dodds
She drives an older black Audi Q3, in case anyone saw the actual collision.
Her and a friend went back later and there’s at least 30 feet of burnt rubber on the road where he skidded. She said there was literally smoke in the air, that’s how hard he was going. I’m attaching photos of the tread marks she sent me.

There was at least one other car at the scene who probably saw the whole thing happen, and we’re hoping someone in the neighborhoods off Lakeview might have caught him on a doorbell cam or something.

If you were on Johnny Dodds around 8 AM, or saw a light silver SUV/truck tearing through the residential streets off Lakeview after, please DM me, or contact the Mt Pleasant police. Anything helps.

Thanks y’all SO much in advance. And mods apologies in advance- please delete if not allowed!
