Potential adoptive parents

I have always thought about adoption since a young age. I would be happy adopting a child of any age, but my husband really wants to raise a baby once, then is open to older adoption along the way. That was the plan, until I found this Reddit page that seems very, very again baby and toddler adoption (for good reason).

I do not want to ”save“ a child, but it always struck me as the more ethical choice; if there are children who could benefit from a loving, stable home- why not offer them a space in ours?

sorry for the rambling; since finding this page, it’s really caused turbulence. I’ve accounted for and planned for helping my child process trauma, what surprised me was the unveiling of the adoption industry as just that- an industry.

I guess with this post I’m just looking for guidance. I want to do the right thing, but I’m not 100% sure I know what that is.

thank you to anyone who takes the time to respond
