Family member thinks she’s dating Elon musk. He is scamming her out of money.
Okay so my grandmother has been really shifty about her phone usage and finally I noticed that she had been talking to someone on teams. She doesn’t work so she has no need to be on teams.
Turns out she has been talking to someone who she thinks is Elon musk, and she thinks they’re in a relationship. On top of that, he has her send him money almost every day. My grandmother doesn’t have a lot of money, so the fact that she is sending whoever this is, whatever she has, is extremely problematic. On top of that I learned today that she is almost $4k in debt with affirm, and who knows what other debt she’s racked up sending this person money. Oh also, this person has access to her bank account!
My mom has tried talking to her but she is in complete denial. My grandmother and I have been getting closer lately and I want to speak to her about it in the nicest way possible. How do I talk to her to get through to her that she is being scammed? This isn’t the first time this has happened.
