Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a realistic assessment of my Subclass 190 SA nomination chances (Accounting/Internal Audit).

Profile:

  • 36, based in Adelaide
  • PhD Accounting (ongoing, Uni of Adelaide)
  • 11 years Internal Audit (overseas)
  • CPA assessed (Associate CPA)
  • PTE 78
  • Partner working in aged care (SA)
  • Est. 80–90 EOI points

I’ve reviewed SA 190 requirements and occupation list, but I want real-world input based on current invitations/trends.

Questions:

  • Is this profile competitive for SA 190 right now?
  • Any obvious weaknesses or red flags?
  • Should I submit EOI now or wait?

Hi everyone,

I would appreciate honest advice on my chances for Subclass 190 PR and the best strategy from here.

I’m currently in Adelaide and trying to decide whether to proceed now or wait.

My profile (summary):

  • PhD student in Accounting (University of Adelaide)
  • 11 years Internal Auditor experience (overseas)
  • CPA Australia assessment completed (Associate CPA)
  • Age: 36
  • PTE: 78
  • Currently working in Australia (hospitality industry, not an audit job)
  • Partner: working as an Assistant in Nursing in Adelaide

What I’m trying to understand:

  • Am I realistically competitive for 190 nomination (especially SA) in External Audit/Internal Audit/Accountant?
  • Is my profile strong enough, or am I missing something critical?
  • Should I apply now or wait until PhD completion / more local experience?
  • Would another state (WA, VIC, NSW) give better chances right now?

I’ve read a lot online, but the information is very mixed and outdated. I’d really appreciate real experiences or up-to-date advice from anyone who has recently gone through the SA nomination or Accounting/Internal Audit pathways.

Even blunt opinions are welcome—just trying to avoid wasting time or going in the wrong direction.

Thanks in advance 🙏
