Currently working on getting Max level with my pure dex build, but I have an idea for a second, either a pure strength or strength +(anything) build.

The idea is to wear heavy armor, and have max possible poise, thorns, and regain-able health. Additionally I want to orient my weapons to physical damage, maximum stagger and charged attack buffs.

The idea is to create a character who can sit, charge up a big attack, tank a hit without getting staggered, inflicting thorns on the enemy. Subsequently I could then land a heavy blow regaining majority of lost health. Ideally this would then stagger the enemy, or in the case of a boss, deal significant poise damage.

Any thoughts on this idea? If it’s possible or worth pursuing. I would either re-spec my current build or start from stretch. The grind to find these specific enchantments/gems is of no concern to me.

I made a post a day or two ago talking about Dex weapons. I have since beat the game, and combined my wife and I have put close to 80 hours into this game already.

In my findings, Faith and Strength weapons drop more often than anything else. The loot pool for pure dex weapons is, in my opinion, the smallest in the game (per my experience). In the time that we have played together and separately, on multiple realms, we’ve found a total of 10 weapons that actually dropped from enemies or bosses that are pure dex scaling.

I’m not making this post to complain, but to get everyone else’s findings and, assuming I’m correct, warn newer players to avoid a dex build as a first play-through as you may struggling finding new weapons to try out.

Dex + strength or intel seems to drop significantly more.

My wife and I just started playing and have already sunk nearly 20 hours into the game in one week. We spent the majority of that time upgrading the town and farming for resources/building out our house.

She went pure faith and I’m on pure dex. I feel like at every fight she’s absolutely carrying me, and the dex build feels underwhelming even compared to my friends who have under leveled strength builds. I’m nearly level 20 and I’m not feeling very strong. I have a few questions, any answers are welcome.

Do I need to make sure my weapons are upgraded to my level to ensure their effectiveness?

(I crafted the rouge messer double blades and haven’t upgraded them (lvl 4) and I’m not sure if it’s worth it to sink resources into them or just get something else.)

Are there duel blades that have a charge attack in the first hit of the combo?

Is parrying harder when playing online? It feels insanely inconsistent.

Do status effects stack, combo or actively go against each other? I’m using ice quiver for the most part and she’s using plague spells, are we actively cancelling each other out?

All the gear that seems to drop from main bosses or even farming seems to be mostly for faith and strength builds. Am I unlucky or is there a smaller loot pool for dex builds?

What are the best dex weapons?

TL;DR: need help figuring out how to make a dex build work. Best weapons, bows, best quivers, weapon upgrading vs drops, parrying vs dodging and status effects on enemies.

Any help is welcome, thank you!
