First PC build in Canada — sanity check before I buy
Hey everyone, I’m putting together my first PC build and wanted a sanity check before I buy parts.
Build/check request
- New build or upgrade? New build.
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? Reusing my current monitor, keyboard, and mouse for now.
- PC purpose? Gaming first, occasional local LLM use, general desktop use. Games/apps: modern AAA games, general use, light AI/LLM experimentation.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? Canada. No Micro Center.
- Monitors needed? None.
- Budget range? Ideally under $2000 CAD, but this build currently lands around $2100 CAD depending on tax and store pricing.
- WiFi or wired connection? WiFi preferred.
- Size/noise constraints? Prefer a compact build and not overly loud.
- Color/lighting preferences? No strong preference.
- Any other specific needs? I’m only budgeting for hardware, not OS or peripherals.
Current parts list:
- AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
- Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE
- ASRock B850M Pro-A WiFi
- Patriot Viper Elite 5 16 GB DDR5-6000 CL30
- WD Black SN7100 1 TB NVMe SSD
- ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 9070 16 GB
- Lian Li A3-mATX case
- MSI MAG A750GL PCIe5 750W 80+ Gold PSU
The total is about $2100 CAD.
My main question is whether this build is actually balanced, or if there are better value swaps I should make to lower the price without hurting performance too much. I’d also like to know whether it’s worth waiting a few months for prices to come down, or if this is already a decent time to buy.
Any suggestions or part swaps are appreciated.
