New to the game
Hi, I am brand new to dice throne as of 2 weeks ago. My first time playing was with cursed pirate and I enjoyed the game so of course I was excited to play more. Since then I have played or seen the X-men characters storm, Wolverine, iceman, and psylock. Gunslinger and samurai, and the outcast characters. So far the only characters that were even remotely as interesting as my first time playing were storm and necromancer. They are the only two they felt like I had any bit of choice and impact on the game with upside and downside. All the rest just felt like randomly rolling dice.
For background I’ve spent the last year and change playing a ton of unmatched and collected all the characters and understand their abilities and maximizing their play style which I found very rewarding regardless of tier. So to go to this that feels way waaaaaaay more random is slightly disappointing.
I keep in mind though that they are entirely different games and should be played as such. I still enjoy dice throne but before i start buying boxes that will just feel like “whatever happens, happens” I wanted to know what characters have the most agency in their strategy? I don’t need it to be overpowered but I would like to feel like my decisions matter even if it’s negatively. Gunslinger and Samurai I know are specifically for beginners but there’s literally nothing engaging about them. Roll the dice, use the tokens, or don’t ? Randomly see who dies first, the end. Is it as simple as finding all the 4,5,6 complexity characters ? Point me in the right direction please.
