For some contex: Me and my girlfriend recently started a family and have a month old baby so we bought a house at the same time. We have lived in the new neighbourhood for roughly a month.

So I was walking with our dog and on the way home I was passing my neighbour’s house and there was a parked car there and out came 3 people. I didn’t know any of them so I didn’t really pay attention. But I noticed the elderly lady (my neighbour that owns the house) was very fond of my dog.

So she walked up to me and wanted to pet my dog so of course I let her. The other 2 people from the car went inside (I assumed it was the daughter and her boyfriend). So we chatted a bit, she welcomed me to the neighbourhood and gave some advice.

But then she told me that her daughter and her bf is living in the house with her and told me her daughter was getting abused by him. I was shocked and dumbfounded. I have never been in such situation before, no one close to me have been abused so far as I know. But this was the house right next to mine.

So I must ask what do I do? It’s a situation I have never been in. Do I call the police? but it might make it worse. Do I go in there and beat him up? A stranger to them and probably will get an assault charge. It has been on my mind all night.
