My grandparents set up a generation skipping trust that pays interest to my parents and the principal out to my sister and I 50/50 when our mother passes. In the last 5 years my parents gave sister a summer home, bought my nephew a home and charges him only interest at the IRS minimum which is like 3.5%, and paid for his under grad and grad degree, and I am afraid to ask them for a loan from my own inheritance for my step daughters college. I have a letter stating that I am owed the value of the house my sister gets, that's in addition to my half of the estate. I am a black sheep in the family for sure, I joined a union instead of a country club, studied art not business, didn't marry a Christian. Everyone in my family's home is owned by a trust except for me, I've always gotten my own mortgages and have struggled paycheck to paycheck most of my life working in the construction industry. We were hoping my daughter's tuition would be covered by VA benefits because her father died from a combat related disability but it could take a long time for the VA to approve her application. My wife/her mom has MS and can't work, my savings was wiped out in 2017-18 during a slow period in my area so in the meantime I was going to co-sign loans for her until I saw the interest rates, WTF! Now I'm willing to suck it up and ask for help, but every time I reach out for some help from my parents there is always a problem on their end (my sister). Am I wrong to feel entitled to a loan from my own inheritance?
