Hey everyone,

I encountered some trouble while shooting with my favorite Praktica MTL 5. I took a shot, wounded to the next slide. Now anytime that I press the shutter release the shutter won’t go off. I tried to wind the film back to save the toll but that is stuck as well.

I’m currently in Japan for vacation and I took it to a repair shop but the man told me to toss it and get a new one. I’m not sure what to do now because this camera used to belong to my father and I want to try and save it.

Has anyone else experienced something like this and if so what do you recommend I could do?

On a side note, if anyone knows any trusted camera repair shops in the NJ/NY area please let me know.
