Copper DIY fuse in FSAE EV battery module – rules compliant?

Hey everyone! I'm currently developing my own battery module design and I wanted to ask whether copper can be used as a DIY fuse for battery packs.

The rules allow for homemade/artisanal fuses, but they don't specify anywhere what material must be used. I've seen that Nickel 200/201 or aluminum are commonly used for this, but those materials are hard to find in my country.

My main concern with copper is that it oxidizes more than other metals, and oxidation could potentially change the fuse's melting point over time, which would affect its reliability and protection behavior.

If anyone knows:

- Whether copper fuses can be validated and used safely in a battery module

- Any alternative materials that are easier to source

...I'd really appreciate the input! I'm also attaching a photo of the design I was planning to use.

Thanks in advance!
