The other night around 2 a.m., I was parked with a friend. He was smoking his cannabis while I used my medical vape. I had my prescription cannabis stored up front in the boot, but when the police arrived, they didn’t check there. Instead, they took a jar inside the car, which was the same medical cannabis in different packaging to keep it fresh. Nervous, I left the area, but they pulled me over. They claimed they smelled cannabis, searched the car—missing my actual prescription jar—and arrested me without any tests for DUI solely on the officer’s perception that I “looked impaired.”

At the station, they denied me water, the bathroom, and even my nicotine vape. I reminded them I was in chronic pain and needed my medication, but they dismissed it. I was left stressed, without pain relief, and held for hours. Eventually, they took my blood, let me go at 5:45 a.m., but kept my medical cannabis. Even after showing my prescription, they claimed flower isn’t prescribed, you can only get it in capsules or oil, which shows how poorly informed they were. Now I’m waiting, while my medication is “under investigation.”

Since then, I’ve been stressed, anxious, and can’t sleep. I’m scared to drive or even use my prescription. The whole reason I went legal was to avoid exactly this. The system let me down. I’ll update when they stop holding my medication hostage and send me a letter telling me charges dropped or going to court.

Edit: Should I lawyer up? I am so lost on what to do here, as I am under investigation but have not been charged with anything.
